I can feel the move forward vibe in your writing. I remember the first time I read any of the Long Watch back at the end of 2007, how excited I was by it ... and how I hoped one day I would actually 'know' you the author and might actually get a handsigned book!

How times change ... or the better.

And now I feel really guilty, because I haven't actually got round to doing anything more with the story - hit by a major need to rework the story (the major plot became a minor plot - this is a lesson to not let your first draft go live....)

As much as I may deny it later, this story is all about different relationships.

Gideon and Al are close friends. Maria and Gideon are almost lovers. Both Maria and Gideon are subservient to Mancini, and feel indebted to him. Al and Lex are former friends, turned enemies, and now partners (good cop, bad cop?).

Then there is the stranger relationship between Raguel and Mancini still to come, and the strained relationship between Gideon and his father...

It's like a family melodrama. But with demons.
